LONDON, May 21 The of Wales was the chief guest at the New Zealand Association’s annual dinner. There was an attendance of 400, including Mr L. C. M. S. Amer> r . Lord Jellicoe. Lord Eustace Perc>', Lord K\ r lsant, Sir Joseph Ward, the Hon W. Pember Reeves, Sir Ernest Rutherford and Sir James Alills. Sir James Parr, who presided, contrasted the trade balance of £2,500,000 last year with the present balance of £10,500,000. The farmers in the >-ear 1927-28 exported, mostly to Britain, produce worth £14,000.000 compared with £7,000,000 last 3 r ear. The Prince of Wales, responding to the toast of his health, said that he had compared memories with the Duke of York, and had agreed upon the country’s great future. The presence of so many Empire-builders, and Sir James Parr’s figures, proved the needlessness of undue boasting. The Prince* rejoiced that New Zealand cadets were now eligible for entry to the Sandhurst and Woolwich military academies. Mr Amery predicted that New Zealand’s future in the Pacific would equal Britain’s in the Atlantic.—Australian Press Association —United Service.
