ST JOHN AMBULANCE.
A meeting of the St John Ambulance Brigade was held last evening. There were present—Major A. L. Gray (chairman), Mesdames A. D. Bishop and G. Watt, Misses Harper and F. L. Cooper, Messrs F. Rudd and Clemens. The St John Ambulance Association wrote stating that they would forward a cheque for the brigade’s proportion of money received for service at race meetings when the brigade returned all equipment, stores and other property of the association: It was decided to write and ask for a list of the property alleged to belong to the association. In connection with the. brigade’s application for a grant under the will of the late T. G. Macarthy, the Public Trustee advised that the will was definitely limited to grants to institutions in the Wellington Province. The secretary of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association wrote forwarding a donation of 10s 6d, and regretting inability to make a bigger grant owing to a hard financial year. Donations were received from the Canterbury A. and P. Association £1 Is, and G. R. Grubble £l. It was decided to purchase three trophies for the suburban district competition. A letter was received from the Dominion Executive of the St John Ambulance Association, asking for financial support to obtain legal advice as to the right of the St John Ambulance and the to lie represented on the British Red Cross Order of St John. .It was resolved to reply, stating that although the brigade was sympathetic towards the proposed action, it was unable to offer financial support.
