FANCY DRESS CARNIVAL.

The Pride of Linwood JuvenilejjPent, 1.0. R., held a successful socia£ and fancy dress carnival on Saturday night. The hall was crowded, and about «sixty children appeared in fancy dress* Mr A. Rennie and Miss E. Bull actea as judges. The following were the prize winners:—Girls over twelve. X' Andrews (Old-fashioned Girl), M. Robinson (Witch): ten to twelve, F. Dwight (Gipsy), J. Woodham (Edmonds’*Baking Powder); under ten. J. Ntartin (Early Victorian), A. Martin (Kewpie), L. Dwight (Sleepy Time Girl). Bt>ys— Jeff M’Neil (Modem. Girl), L. Wyate (Sundowner), G. Duncan (Baker), J. Martin (Jackie Coogan). The fqttpwing was the programme:—Recitation, Florence Dwight: part-song, £>oris Chamlev and Myrtle Buntey; Highland fling, Mr J. Fraser; recitation. Wyate; cornet solo, Doris Chamlev* recitation, Mona Dwight; song,« Jeff M’Neil; cornet duet. Misses D. and L. Chamlev; song, Mrs Andrews; tion. Nora Martin: sword dance,* Miss M. Fraser; recitation. Miss D. Fowler: recitation. Miss Nola Wyate: Jomie songs, Mr- W. Fowler; recitation*. Miss Florence Hatton. After the programme, games and refreshments rounded*off a very pleasant evening. During the evening Mr Chamley conducted a>n instructive and amusing museum, which was visited by nearly everyone ift the hall. Mr A. Dwight, superintended of the tent, thanked all present for whelping to make the evening a success.
