FIREMEN HANDICAPPED IN RICCARTON BLAZE.

The Fire Brigade experienced some difficulties in extinguishing a fire that occurred at 21. Division Road, Riccar ton, on Saturday evening, in a fivet oorned dwelling house occupied by Mrs Herbert Milne. The alarm was re ceived at 6.15 p.m,. but the fire, which originated at the rear of the house, had a firm hold when the brigade arrived. The want of high pressure water considerably -handicapped the brigade, and a connection had to be made with the 'Wharenui School baths, 800 feet of hose being used. The house and its contents were practically destroyed. The contents were insured for £SOO in the State Office, and the house for £SOO in another office.
