BOY IS VICTIM OF FATAL COLLISION.
STRUCK SIDE OF CAR; DIES AFTER OPERATION. Knocked from his bicycle by a motorcar at the intersection of Clarence Road and Leamington Street at 9.30 yesterday morning, Oswald Benjamin Islip, aged fourteen years, of 9, Leamington Street, was admitted to the hospital in an unconscious condition, with injuries to his head, face and legs. He suffered from shock, and was in a critical condition all day. He was operated on but died at 8.30 p.m. He was riding on the footpath of Leamington Street on his way to church. He came suddenly out into Clarence Road and struck the side of the motor-car, which was going in a northerly direction from Lincoln Road. He was thrown clear of his bicycle, which was badly damaged. The driver of the car, which was slightly damaged, was Mr Cecil A. R. Bunker, blacksmith, 94, Wainui Street, Riccarton.
