COMPETITIONS NOW IN FINAL STAGES.
The Christchurch Competitions, which are now in the final stages, were continued this morning at the Municipal Concert Hall. Results: ENGLISH SONG. Gentlemen: Own Selection. Recalls —Messrs H. J. Francis (Christchurch), “I Heard You Singing”; W. Toomev (Christchurch), “Song of the North Wind”; and Ernest Rogers (Waltham), “A Request.” VOCAL SOLO. Ladies. New Zealand Composer.' Miss Leila Black, Christchurch (90) 1 Miss Irene Seymour, Cashmere (89) 2 Miss Anita Graham, Christchurch (88) 3 TO-NIGHT’S PROGRAMME The combined ballet for dancers of twelve and over will furnish three interesting numbers at to-night’s entertainment at the City Concert Hall. The subjects of the ballets are “ Operatic,” “ Military,” and Irish. The operatic duo, sixteen and over, will also be danced. Among the vocal classes are the song in character, tenor sacred solo, ladies’ duet, solo with accompaniment and obligato, and baritone sacred solo. The humorous recitation for bqys and the Shakespearean recitation will furnish the elocutionary numbers. The piano duet, sixteen and under eighteen, is also to be decided. Day sessions will be held in the City Concert Hall, and the evening concert commences at 7.30. .
