CHAMPION CYCLISTS ANSWER CHARGES OF FOUL RIDING.

MACKIE AND W. T. WEIR SUSPENDED TILL JULY. On charges of foul riding Willie Maclcie and W. T. Weir, two prominent Canterbury cycling champions, were last evening suspended until the end of July by the North Canterbury Athletic and Cycling Union. Mackie and Weir were ordered to appear before the union after a recommendation from the Kowai Athletic Sports Club was received asking that the riders be severely dealt with by the Centre. The letter from the Kowai Club stated that at a special meeting held on May 5 Mackie and Weir had been found guilty of foul riding during the five miles Kowai wheel race and a fine of £1 each was imposed upon the riders. Weir attended the meeting, but Mackie was absent. Weir expressed regret for his action at the sports. After considerable discussion it was decided to endorse the fines imposed by the Kowai Club and to disqualify both riders until July 31.
