The suggestion of a temporary extension of the Root-Bryce Arbitration Treaty with the British Government, for a period of six months beyond June 4, the expiry date, has been found to be impossible by the United States. Mr F. B. Kellogg announced on Wednesday that the treaty must be ratified by the Senate for the full period of live j-ears, or lapse.

Great Britain asked for a. delay, pending conferences with the self-governing Dominions, concerning details of the draft treaty's pro visions.—Australian Press Association-
