MAYOR DOES NOT COMMENT ON LETTER FROM WOMEN’S CLUB.
Asked to-day whether he had any comment to make on the letter from the Canterbury Women’s Club, the Mayor (the Rev J. K. Archer) replied in the negative. The letter from the Canterbury Women’s Club arose out of strong criticism made by the Mayor and certain councillors at the meeting of the City. Council on Monday night, concerning a letter from the club protesting strongly against the proposal to build new conveniences in the Square.
