THIEVES SHOW SKILL IN AUCKLAND CASE. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, April 30. Burglars used high explosives with Considerable skill on a safe in the Auckland Meat Company’s premises in Wellington Street on Saturday evening, and £2B was secured. The explosion did not attract attention, and the burglary was not discovered until an employee visited the shop yesterday morning. The premises were entered from an adjoining margarine store, to which the thieves gained access by breaking a window. They then broke the glass panel in a door opening into the shop and drew the bolts. The explosive was applied through the keyhole of *he safe. It dislodged the lock and the internal reinforcement from the main panel, all the force of the explosion penetrating inward. The intruders also attempted to open the cash register and left it with the keys jammed.
