JOCKEY BADLY HURT IN AUCKLAND SMASH.

PASSENGER IN CAR HAS LUCKY ESCAPE. (Special to the "Star.”) AUCKLAND, April 30. A serious collision between a twoseater motor-car driven by Leonard Manson. a jockey, aged twenty-six, of Remuera. and a tramcar occurred near the Captain Cook Hotel in Khyber Pass Road at 8.30 last evening. Manson received injuries to his head and was removed to hospital suffering from fair!}' serious concussion. The car was struck by the front of the tram and turned completely round. As it proceeded on the tram again struck the car. throwing it across the roadway and on to the footpath, where it finally came to rest, almost within the, doorway of the hotel. When the car canac to rest Manson was still seated at the wheel. Another man in the motor-car was not injured.
