Following an action by five proim_ nent women, the Supreme Court ot Canada, ill a judgment, denies the right of women to sit in the Senate^ The Minister of Justice, Mr Ernest Lapointe, announces that the Governernment is of one opinion, that women should have the right to seats in the Senate, and will devise means to amend the British North America Act. The Supreme Court judgment interpreted conditions existing in 1867. Australian Press Association,
