LIVING ON OTHERS AND TAKING THEM DOWN, POLICE SAY.
WOOLCLASSER HAS NOW TO SERVE GAOL TERM. . (Special to the “Star.”) WELLINGTON. April Norman M’Millan, wc/olclasser. aged 21. pleaded guilty to-day to having failed to comply* with the terms of his release on probation. It was stated that accused was admitted to probation at Auckland in 1926 for three years, on a charge of false pretences, and that since that time he had neglected to report regularly’’. He had incurred two hotel billß in Wellington and left without paying them. He had negotiated for the purchase of a motor-car, and had led a land agent to believe that he was buying a farm. Further, he had engaged a married woman with three children to act as his housekeeper on a farm, and it was not until she had arranged her affairs that she discovered that she had been hoaxed. Accused appeared. said the police, to be living on other people and taking them down. Remarking that M Millan had had his chance, Mr Page imposed a sentence of three months’ imprisonment.
