WEST COAST MINER HAD LONELY- LIFE. (Special to the “ Star.”) GREYMOUTH, April 26. Living alone in an isolated hut near Slatey Creek, John Flanagan Phaff, a gold prospector, died ■in pathetic circumstances about a fortnight ago, but the fact was not known until yesterdaj' when his body was discovered in the hut. He was unmarried, and about 50 years of age. He had been suffering from miner’s pthisis. The hut is situated five miles from the nearest dwelling. The body was removed to Ahaura to-day.
