The French Tennis Federation confirms the fact that, in view of the Davis Cup, it desires the tennis players in Australia to return as early as possible. Interviewed with regard to the recent statement from Sydney that Borotra had been recalled, M. Canet, president of the French Tennis Association, said that it was the first he had heard of it. There was absolutely no truth in the statement. He would not dream for one moment of recalling the team before the termination of all-their engagements.

In reply to a letter apologising for his absence from the official welcome to the French tennis team in Wellington last month, Mr J. 11. Kirk, President of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, has received the following note on a card from M. Jean Borotra. dated Sydney, January 24:—“With all the kind regards, all the thanks of the French team for your kind message and with all their regrets for not having had the pleasure of meeting you during theii - too short but so pleasant stay in New Zealand.”
