LADIES’ SWIMMING CLUB.
The committee of the Christchurch Ladies' Amateur Swimming Club met on Thursday evening at the Municipal Baths, Mrs W. Brown, club captain, being in the chair. Mesdames D. Henry, F. Feaver, Misses T. Morrissey, M. E. Smith, H. Brown, M. Pawsey and D. Brown were also present. An apology for absence was received from Miss D. Feaver. Mrs C. B. Ballin wrote accepting the position of patroness; Mrs M. Sandston and Mrs W. Ballantyne accepted positions as vice-presidents and enclosed donations. Miss D. Brown reported that the Centre had abandoned the queen carnival owing to the lack of support by the larger clubs, and moved that a donation of £5 be made to the Centre’s Touring Fund. This was carried. It was decided to carry on with the evening that was to be held for the further raising of funds, but to make it complimentary to the members and those who had worked for the club’s queen. All arrangements were left in the hands of Mrs and Miss Brown. Mrs D. Henry moved that a challenge cup be established from the queen carnival funds. Miss Brown secondedthis and was instructed to draw up conditions ta be submitted to the net meeting. Tt was decided to make I for handicap events open to junior am.: senior members.
