WEDDINGS.
AUSTEN—COOMBER. A wedding was celebrated recently at the Catholic Cathedral, Barbadoes Street, the ceremony being performed by the Rev Father Browne. The contracting parties were Winifred Mary, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. T. Coomber, Sydenham, and Leslie, son of Mrs H. Austen, late of Christchurch, but now resident in England. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very dainty frock of white souple satin, with a silver spray falling from the left shoulder. She wore white stockings and silver shoes, and her beautiful embroidered veil was held by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white stocks and lilies. She was attended by her sister, Stella, as bridesmaid, who wore a pretty frock of delphinium blue crepe de chine, a fawn crinoline hat, and carried a bouquet of freesias and pink roses. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Bert LapsLie as best man. After the ceremony, the guests were entertained by the bride’s parents at St Saviour’s Hall, Sydenham. The happy couple left later, the bride wearing a mauve costume and a crinoline hat to tone and a silver fox fur.
