HOCKEY PLAYERS ARE NOMINATED.
MANY NAMES FOR THE SELECTORS TO CHOOSE FROM. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association met last evening; present—Messrs H. S. J. Goodman (chairman). 11. Thror, F. N. Quartermain, A. Preston, C. Bellamy, K. \Gracie, G. S. Strack, S- Cl. Holland, H. '\V. Rogers and \V. H. Down. A deputation from the Canterbury Hockey Association waited upon the meeting in reference to the control of the inter-island match which had been offered to the Canterbury Association. Mr L. L. Smith said that the Canterbury Association were prepared to accept the match providing they took the whole of the profits. On the motion of Mr Bellamy it was decided to play the inter-island match at Christchurch, on a date to be arranged by the Canterbury Association. An interesting letter to the chairman from Captain Cowan, who captained the Indian Army team last season, was read. It conveyed the news that hockey was still booming in India. Four gentlemen were suggested tor the postion of manager of the New Zealand team to tour Australia. The appointment was held over till the next meeting on Monday, July 4.
