NEW BROADCAST STATION 2YA WILL BE SECOND DAVENTRY.

A point of interest in regard to the size of the new Wellington station is worthy of an explanation. According to rome published ratings, certain Australian stations are of five kilowatts, just as 2YA will be. In reality. 2YA will be two or three times as powerful as any Australian station. The discrepancy arises from the different methods of rating. The new Wellington station is rated on the power input to the aerial, while the others are rated on the power put into the tubes for conversion into radio energy. The rating of the new Wellington plant is conservatively set down as 5 to 7.5 kilowatts in the aerial. To get this power will mean an input to the tubes of 10,000 to 15,000 watts. As Daventrv is rated on the input to the tubes, 2YA is not so very much lower in power than this British station.
