WAR SERVICE HOMES COMMISSIONER REPORTS SUCCESSFUL YEAR.

Bv Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copy right. Aus. ami N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 22. 12.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 22. The Commissioner for War Service Homes reports: “The Commission expended nearly £24,000,000 in the erection of nearly 31,000 soldiers’ homes all over the Commonwealth and in the purchase of land in anticipation of further applications. Ten million loans have been repaid. As an indication of the increased efficiency of the organisation and the manner in which purchasers are meeting their obligations, arrears in instalments are equal to only 1 per cent, while the administrative losses, which in 192 G totalled £42,000, were last year changed into a surplus of £22,000, and it is anticipated that the current year's surplus will be greater.
