Fashions and Furbelows

NOTES BY SPECIAL CONTRIBUTORS.

TOWEL DRIIL.

Very great benefit will result from this drill. The exercises need only take up a few minutes night and morning. i Before using the towel for any of these simple exercises, fold it over in i three lengthwise folds. It is best to j use a thick, but not too rough, towel _ When there is a tendency to a double j chin, try this exercise. Hold the towel j one end in each hand, and then raise i the arms until the middle of the materi!al is right under the chin. Now draw Jit firmly backwards and forwards 1 across the chin, all the time keeping the head well up. I Arms that are too fat and somewhat j shapeless may be enormously- improved by this tuwcl exercise. Loop the towel round the arm where reduction is required, then, grasping both ends with ! the free hand, pass it firmly tip and down. , In these days of shingled heads, the i back of the neck is important. Draw the towel rapidly backwards and fori wards against the nape of the neck . while the head is kept well up. ; This next towel exercise "iU be found to be useful where fat forms just ; above the corselet. Grasp the towel, ; as described in the former movements, and then draw it rajvJ-b* - across the

front above the abdomen and up and down from the lower chest to the abdomen. The figure must be kept very erect whilst the exercise is practised.
