By 3"e!esra.i>H« —Press Ann. Cqpyrisbl *ma. and N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, June 20.

Signor Labriola, who recently made a dramatic escape from Italy, when interviewed, told an amazing story ot Fascist outrages. , Signor Labriola is an ex-Mimster of Labour and formerly a colleague ot Signor Mussolini, but he disapproved ot recent Fascist developments. He says that the day after the alleged attempt on the life of Signor ilusaolini at Bologna, the door of his flat was battered in by Black Shirts. Signor Labriola and his son, aged sixteen, ■were each put in a corner of the room, covered by revolvers, and told that they would be shot if they moved. The Black Shirts then smashed the furniture and china, ripped the pictures to shreds, and tore up books. Signor Labriola declares that over--1000 houses were similarly treated. Signor Mussolini refused Signor Labriola a passport, but he escaped. He «ays that a man has only two chances in’ltaly to-day, Fascism or prison.

A pied piper is needed out Sockbum ■way, Councillor Newnham said at last night’s meeting of the Waimairi County Council. Rats at the Middleton gravel pit were there by the dozen. Boys shot at them with pea rifles and in broad daylight he had seen the animals running about.
