A rumour that a man, residing in Sydenham, who sustained a fractured rib in the recent collision between a railway locomotive and a tramway trailer at the Colombo Street crossing, was in a dying condition, has been investigated by Mr W. T. Tregurtha, Assistant District Traffic Manager. Mr Tregurtha found that the rumour was grossly exaggerated, and the man himself was surprised to hear that it was m circulation. Mr Tregurtha stated yesterday that the man was suffering from a broken rib, and at present was confined to his bed, but he expected to be able to get up in a few davs’ time. There was absolutely no truth in the suggestion that he was dying through lack of attention, and that the Railway Department was neglecting his case. The question of compensating him for his injuries was under consideration.
