STEEL HOUSES.
PROGRESS IN GREAT BRITAIN. Houses built up of steel plates in a manner similar to the hull of a ship continue to be adopted in Great Brie tain with notably good results. There arc many types on the home market, but that preferred in the rigorous climate of Scotland, which demands particularly efficient housing structures, is one in which not only the shell but the whole of the framework is of steel. The interior of the walls in these houses is sprayed with a composition which obviates sweating. The insides can be lined with any brand of composition boarding that mav be desired, and this may be papered or otherwise decorated as preferred by the tenant. These houses have proved to be as warm in c<»kl weather as brick houses, with this important difference —that a more nearly even temperature is obtained in both extremes of hot and cold weather.
