WEDDINGS.

SQUIRE—MATTHEWS. St Paul’s Church, Cashel Street, prettily decorated with vari-coloured flowers, was the scene of a wedding yesterday afternoon, when Mary, eldest daughter of Mrs A. M. Matthews and the late Mr Matthews, Edge ware Road, was married to Frank, son of Mr and Mrs F. Squire, Christchurch. The Rev F. Rule was the officiating minister, and Mr Raynor White presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her grandfather, Mr J. Scott, Redcliffs, wore a delightful frock of ivory crepe de chine and silver lace. Panels of silver lace on the bodice and the skirt flounced, also of laoe, were outlined with pearls. Her long veil of embroidered tulle was arranged from a coronet of orange blossoms, and fell long over her frock, forming a train. She carried a bouquet of white flowers. Miss Ivy Scott, who attended as bridesmaid, wore a dainty frock of orchid mauve georgette, fashioned with a long bodice with a pointed panel of lace low on the waist line. The finely pleated skirt had loose panels of plain material falling to the hem, and on one shoulder she wore a posy of flowers to tone. Her hat of the same shade of georgette had a swathed crown, and she carried a bouquet of mauve sweet peas and scabious. Mr Jack Squire attended the bridegroom as best man.

As the bride was leaving the church she was presented with a silver horseshoe by little June Shepherd. Following the ceremony a reception was held at Dixieland, where only relatives and close friends were entertained. The bride’s mother received her guests wearing a charming frock of fawn and gold floral crepe de chine, a navy blue tailored coat and mauve tulle scarf, and her hat of mauve georgette was trimmed with velvet appliqued flowers on the front of the crown. Mrs Squire, mother of the bridegroom, wore a frock of mauve maro* cain. a marabout stole and a black crinoline straw hat. Mrs Scott, grandmother of the bride, wore a. black silk frock, ottoman silk coat, and a black hat.

When the bride left for her wedding tour she wore a dainty frock of green and pink figured voile, made with inset panels of cream lace and a pleated skirt. Her hat was of fawn corded ribbon and she also wore a handsome fur coat.
