National attention continues to be focussed on (he three thousand deaths from the Government poisoned denatured alcohol during the recent holiday season. Mr Mellon has urged the Government to use all possible speed to remove the poison ingredients from the present supplies. The American Chemical Society has asked its 1500 members for suggestions for a new non-poisonous denaturant. General Andrews said it was safe to assume that most of these holiday deaths were caused from officially poisoned, denatured alcohol, from which the bootleggers thought they had removed the poison, but had failed.
