BOY WAS UNABLE TO SWIM, BUT DID NOT FEAR WATER.
(Special to the “ Star."") WELLINGTON, January 5. At the inquest on the death of the boy Tuohy, who was drowned near the Ferry Wharf on Sunday, a sister said that the boy could float a little but not swim. He used to think he could swim, and had no fear of the water. A young lad, whose father is caretaker of the hulk Addcrsley, said that “ Ally ” wanted to go for a swim, and went below for a costume and towel. The next he saw of him was after he had been taken from the water. Jimmy Tuohy, aged seven, who heard his brother splash into the water, apparently watched him from the side of the hulk, and then ran below, but was afraid to say anything, as they had been told not to go into the water. The verdict was accidental drowning.
