BURIED LITTLE GIRL’S BODY IN RABBIT HOLE.

In a statement made to the police in connection with the disappearance of the child Smith at Poolamacca Station, near Broken Hill, the accused, James Hughes, an employee of the station, said he put Joan Smith on a horse, which was frightened when he pulled out a handkerchief and threw the girl. As she showed no signs of life after a quarter of an hour, and fearing that he would be blamed for putting her on the horse, he buried bodv in a rabbit hole which he deepened. He was sure she was dead when buried.
