Mrs Alan Avery, Hawke’s Bay, is visiting her mother, Mrs Charles Beadcl, Rossall Street. Miss E. Comvns Thomas, Hereford Street, will leave on Thursday for a holiday visit in the North Island. Mr and Mrs Gostling and Mr and Mrs Walduck, London, are among the overseas visitors staying at the United Service Hotel. Miss C. R. Gilchrist and Miss K. B. Gilchrist, Invercargill, and Mr and Mrs T. M. Martin, Wellington, are staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr and Mrs C. J. Le Cren, Misses E. and M. In order to meet the growing demand for 24-hour water heating, the City Council has adopted in addition to the present restricted hour rates, a rate of £1 per annum per 100 watts of capac:it}*.
