CLOUDS DOMINATE HOLIDAY IN CITY.
STREETS ARE DESERTED; CITIZENS ARE AWAY.
The holiday in Christchurch to-da\' was dominated by clouds, which were more ominous than pleasant, although no rain fell up to 2 p.m. at least. In spite of the weather conditions, many motor-cars left garages and took holiday-seekers to resorts. The principal attraction was the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington, which was well attended. The Canterbury v. Wellington match attracted many patrons of cricket. About 900 excursionists left by train for Timaru, 200 for Motukarara. and 70 for Darfield. The Sanders Cup trials at Ly'ttelton proved interesting. F'airlv large numbers of passengers went by train to the. seaside.
