WOULD DUKE RATHER SEE N. Z. BUSH THAN RACE MEETING?

AUCKLAND MAY TAKE HIM TO MOUNTAINS. (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, November 26. A tentative programme for the reception of the Duke and Duchess of York in Auckland was submitted to the City Council last evening. It is proposed that an endeavour should be made to have the second day of the Ot&huhu Trotting Club’s meeting at Epsom held on February 22, she day of the arrival of the Renown, instead of on the following day. The commodore of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron was arranging for a muster of pleasure craft to welcome the Renown. Mr T. Bloodworth suggested that a race meeting at EUerslie should not be overlooked. Miss E. Melville objected to holding a race meeting at all during the visit. It would be better if the visitors were taken into the Wai taker© Ranges, whero they could see the New Zealand native bush at its best. It was decided that when the programme was submitted to the Government a trip into the ranges should be made on Wednesday, if the “ trotting meeting is held on Tuesday as suggested.
