DOCTOR LEAVES FOR HEALTH CONFERENCE TO REPRESENT N.Z.
(Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON, November 25. To-day. Dr M. FI. Watt, Deputy Director-General of Health, leaves for Melbourne to represent the Dominion at a conference of health authorities from countries bordering on the Pacific, which is to consider matters relating to the transmission of infectious diseases between the countries. Representatives will be present from Japan. America, Malay, etc., and also from Britain, the League of Nations, and the Samoan Administration. Britain will probably be represented by Sir George Buchanan, of the British Ministry of Health, Dr Norman White, deputy head of the health section, will attend on behalf of the League of Nations, and Dr T. R. Ritchie is to represent the Samoan Administration. The conference will be held on December 15, and Dr Watt expects to return to Wellington about the Christmas period. He will prepare a report for presentation to the Government.
