The Marine Court, which inquired into the stranding of the Rio C.laro, found the charge against the master, Captain Rowland James Park, that he carelessly navigated the vessel, had been sustained, but that failure to take the utmost precautions could not be regarded as gross failure of duty. The Court therefore did not deal with his certificate of competency, but censured him.

The cost of repairs to the vessel is mooo.
