Miss V. Nicholls (Oamaru) is staying with Miss Helen Rich (Cashmere Hills).
Mrs H. Manson, Ranfurly Street, Hornby, is spending a holiday with Mrs Greig, Governor's Bay. Mr and Mrs A. King (Waipawa, Hawke’s Ba}’) are the guests of Mr and Mrs Charles Menzies, of Jerroid Street, Spreydon. On Sunday evening next a benefit concert will be given in the Liberty Theatre to assist the Nurses* Memorial Chapel Fund. The programme will be a very entertaining one, and should meet with the approval of all concert goers.
Mr IT. S. S. Kyle, M.P. for Riccarton, and Mrs Kyle are leaving on Saturday for Auckland. They will return via the West Coast in about a fortnight. Mrs F. C. Mann, of Beckenham, left on Frida}' for Auckland, where she will join her daughter.
Nurse Maude Caffin has left for Hastings, where she has been appointed district nurse.
Mrs W. Fraser, Wellington, is spending a holiday in Christchurch and is staying with Mrs G. Evans, Linwood. Mr and Mrs Gratton Shiel (Dunedin) and Mr and Mrs Little (Hui Hui) are guests at Warner’s Hotel.
Mr and Mrs E. IT. Cucksey and Miss Dorothy Cucksey, of Auckland, are the guests of Mrs David Crozier, Feudal* ton.
Mrs G. Langridge, Timarti, who has been the guest of Mrs J. Bailey, Templeton, for the past fortnight, left on Monday to spend a few days with her sister-in-law, Mrs F. S. Langridge, Spreydon, before returning to her home. Last night’s arrivals at the Clarendon Hotel included Mr and Mrs T. R. Rhodes (Timaru), Mr and Mrs W. J. Parry (Timaru) and Mrs T. C. Brash (Wellington). Miss Marian Woodhouse, L.R.A.M., will give her annual vocal recital, with her students, on Wednesday, November 17, in the Jellicoe Hall. These recitals have been a great success every year and are noted for good voices and good new music. This year, it is promised, will prove no exception to the rule, as the voices are fresh and sweet and much of the music is very lovely. It is lately out from England and has not been heard in New Zealand before. Miss Woodhouse will be assisted by Miss Aileen Warren, accompaniste, and Miss Joyce Staff, L.A.8., elocutionist. At a special meeting of the committee of the Phillipstown Kindergarten recently it was reported that the jlHCble sale organised by Mrs Griffiths had realised the satisfactory sum of £lO. Mrs Dunbier reported on behalf of the Dance Committee that for the season the sum of £55 10s 8d had been realised. On Thursday the birthday of the school was celebrated ■with a coin afternoon, which brought in the sum of £2 14s 3d. The children gave a very pleasing programme of games and dances, and they Were provided with jellies and cakes. The large birthday cake was made and decorated by Mrs Robinson (one of the mothers). Mrs M’Xntosh (another mother) presented some beautiful paper flowers, which were sold. Mr P. Batty (one of the fathers) gavQ his services for a day and a half towards getting the grounds in order. School subscriptions for the month amounted to £2 18s 6d.
