Considerable ability and a capacity for the appreciation of his subject were displayed by the Rev D. Gardner Miller, of" Trinity Congregational Church, at a dramatic recital which he gave at the church last evening, before a verv large attendance. At last night's meeting of the City Council, the Reserves Committee reported that it had had a valuation prepared of the land situated at the corner of Rutland Street and Innes Road, which was offered for sale by the Church Property Trustees for the purpose of a recreation ground, and representatives of the committee had waited upon the trustees with regard to the matter. As a result of the interview the trustees had reduced the price of the land to £6500. As that amount was still considerably in ex cess of the valuation, the committee was of opinion that it would be inadvisable to accept the offer and recommended that the Church Property Trustees be notified accordingly. The recommendation was approved
