SULTAN’S PALACE TO BE GAMING CASINO.
YILDEZ CASTLE TO OPEN AS REST RESORT. CONSTANTINOPLE, June 11. News that the magnificent palace of the former Emperor William of Germany on the island of Corfu will be turned into a gambling casino is followed now by the announcement that the Sultan's palace at Yildez. overlook iizg the Bosphorus, will suffer a like fate. Difficulties which had arisen between the Turkish government and a group of Italian concessionaires have been removed, and the promoters hope to open the resort this summer. Most of the finer fittings, including the Sultan's throne chair, have been transferred to State buildings in Angora. The lease of the palace extends for a long period of years, and the government expects to realise about 500.000 dollars * year from the enterprise.
