FREE CARTAGE FOR PEDIGREE STOCK FROM ENGLAND URGED.

By Telegraph.--P*esa Assn.—Copyright (Aus.- and- N.Z: Cable Association. LONDON, June 22. Mi* W. F. Dunn, Minister of Agriculture for New South Wales, on behalf of the stock owners of Australia, submitted to Mr Amery a plan that importers of pedigree poultry and stock, except sheep, from Britain should pay only the. purchase price, the Imperial, Commonwealth and State Governments equally sharing the cost of any freight and insurance, the object being to provide the most superior Empire foods possible in opposition to the Argentine and the United States. Mr Amery promised sympathetic consideration. Three Angle-Australian shipping lines have promised Mr Dunn favourably to consider the. free carriage of pedigree stock provided they are indemnified against outlay for feeding and housing during transportation. . Mr Dunn addressed the Commonwealth Labour group in the House of Commons on Empire trade, insisting that the sentiment of the bonds of Empire was invaluable to a certain point, but valueless unless supplemented by material interests, such as cheaper food and raw materials, which may be received from the- dominions, notably from Australia.
