MAN, 32, FALLS FROM MOTOR-CYCLE; RECEIVES FATAL INJURIES.

CORONER ADJOURNS INQUEST ON VICTIM. Evidence of identification was taken to-day before Mr If. A. Young, Coroner, touching the death of Robert J. Hamilton, who received fatal injuries when he fell from a motor-cycle at Ashley on June 19. James Robert Davis, building contractor, Rangiora, identified the bodv. Hamilton had been a builder’s labourer, and had been in witness’s employ up till about nine weeks ago. He had come out from Ireland in 1921. He had been a strong man, about thirtytwo —ears of age perhaos a little younger, and had been temperate in his habits. As far as witness knew, deceased had no relatives in New Zealand. Dr W. S. Minty, house surgeon at the Christchurch Hospital, said that Hamilton was admitted in an unconscious condition late on the night of June 20. He had an abrasion behind the left ear, a bruise on the forehead, and examination revealed a puffiness of the scalp and the presence of blood in the nostrils and at the back of the mouth. The symptoms suggested haemorrhage inside the skull, and an operation showed this to be so. There was a fracture of the base of the skull. Death was due to laceration of the brain following the fracture of the skull. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
