NEW APPOINTMENT BY DRAINAGE BOARD.
ADDITIONAL ENGINEER FOR SEWERAGE WORKS. The Christchurch Drainage Board has appointed a third additional assistantengineer for its sewerage extension work, making the third new appointment within the past week. The new appointee is Mr A. D. Good* win, 8.A., of Gordon Street, Dargaville. He is a graduate of Cambridge University and is a registered civil engineer and a licensed surveyor, being a member of the New Zealand Institute .of Surveyors. From 1923 to 1925 Mr Goodwin was residerit engineer to the Dargaville Borough Council and is at present consulting engineer to th® council. It is understood that a further appointment from the present applicant* will be riiad© in the near future. The board’s engineering staff now cdffristi df the Chief Engineer (Mr James Cullens) and ilk assistant Engineers and one cadet. Prior to the raising of , the £700,000 loan for sewerage extension Mr Cullens was the only engineer employed by the board. Up to the present approximately £250,000 of the £700,000 loan has already been expended, the work consisting principally of main sewers and pumping stations. A fair amount has also been expended on machinery. Reticulation is now in progress in Wool**, ston and North Limvood,
