MINES RESUMING IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
SHIPPING COMPANIES TAKE UP TIMETABLES. By Telegraph.— Press Assn. — Copyright. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 21, 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 21. Everything is now in order for the resumption of work by the miners tomorrow. Striking engine-drivers and firemen, numbering 1000, returned on Friday and Saturday to prepare the mines, and efforts are being made to settle the several sectional disputes which were in existence before the genera! strike began. The trouble at Coalcliff over wages, which has been in existence since the beginning of the year, has been settled. A hitch occurred at the South Maitland field over the conditions of work. With the mines resuming, the question of relief orders for the unemployed will cease to be the big matter it at present is With the Police Department. During the past few weeks, the average number of orders issued weekly has been 400. the value of each rartging from 6s 6d to 31s 6d. It is expected that the claims will be made till the first pay is received. The shipping companies are now making preparations to resume the time-tables, which have been disorganised by the shortage of coal.
