BOY, 13, SAYS GOT IDEA FROM BOOKS AND MOVIES

“I went to the pictures once, sir, and saw a man breaking and entering a place,” said a boy of thirteen years when asked by Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., in the Children's Court to-day, what had led up to the ten cases of breaking and entering to which the boy pleaded guilty. “If that is true,” said Mr Widdowson, “it shows that the pictures should be censored more severely.” The. boy’s father appeared, and said his son had stated that he got the idea from a book. "That is more likeh’-,” said the Magistrate. The boy stole money and articles of a total value of £7 18s 6d. The thefts were mainly from houses, and extended over a period from April 8. The boy said he had been reading “Buffalo Bill” books. His father said he had given very little trouble, at. home. The Magistrate: “This is a very, very sad case. When the boy gets to the working age he should refund the He will be placed in the care of the Superintendent of the Child Welfare Branch of the Education Department, and the stolen articles are to be returned.”
