TO-DAY’S GAMES. KEEN BOYS’ FOOTBALL AT HAGLEY PARK. A soccer afx-a-side tournament was held at Hagley Park this morning, for teams in the lower grades. There was a large number of entries, and the boys showed the utmost keenness and enthusiasm. The matches were of ten minutes duration, five minutes each way, with one minute interval. Goals counted three points and corners half a point each. On this system, the matches were got through rapidly and ■without confusion, using the four grounds available at the park. Sumner scored a goal immediately afterwards, Merrett beihg the scorer; he broke through the opposition and connected with a hot first-timer. Sumner kept at it, and Ogier beat Colville with a short one. FOURTH GRADE. First Round. Y.M.C.A. 31 beat Spreydon J. Mariftt* B 9 beat Marists A Si-Semi-final. Y.M.C.A. 3 3 beat Technical B 0. Marists B 12 beat Technical A 0. Final. Marists B 1 beat Y.M.C.A. *. The game was fast And open. Turner (Marists) was the best of his side, And showed surprising ability in ball control and placing. The score was two corners to the winners and one corner to the lowers, no goal being scored. FIFTH OKADE. First. Round. Western R 7 heat ftpreydon 4. Western A 12 beat Brighton 1. Semi-final. Technical 3i beat Marist 0. Western A 12ft beat Western B 3. Final. Western 6 beat. Technical 1. This was an evenly contested game, and fast from the start. Technical made a mistake in wasting too much time playing with the ball in front of the enemy goal, in contrast to Western's aggressive, quick-shooting tactics. SIXTH GRADE. First Round.
