“STAR” SPORTS PRIZE WINNERS.

THIS WEEK’S AWARDS. The awards have been made in the “ Star’s ” weekly sports competition, and prizes have been forwarded to the following:— RUGBY. Three Prizes of £1 Each. Miss M. Sellars, care of “ Press ” Company. D. E. Macdonald, 414, Ilaglcy Ave--11. Willis, 127, Sherbourne Street, St Albans. SOCCER. One Prize of £l. S. P. Barnett, 2, Konini Street, Riccarton. LEAGUE. The League coupons sent in last week will be held over until next week. COMPETITION NOTES. RUGBY. The draw between Old Boys and ’Varsity upsfet the calculations of the majority of competitors, very few forecasting this unexpected result- The majority picked Old Boys to win. After the elemination of those who did not give a draw in the Old Boys-’Varsity game, it was a comparatively easy task to select the winners in the Rugby section. The following were the actual scores in the Rugby games:— Merivale 11, Linwood 3. Christchurch 26, Albion 0. Old Boys 8, ’Varsity 8. The scores given by the winners were:—

SOCCER. A large number of competitors picked the right winners of the Soccer £ames, though a fair number favoured Villa's chances against Nomads. The general opinion was that this game would be closely contested, though not many gave the correct score. The scores in the Synnyside v. Thistle game were predicted very closely by a large number, many giving the correct figures. Few were of opinion that cither Technical Old Boys or Western would win by such substantial margins as they did. The actual scores in Soccer games Sunnyside 4, Thistle 2. Nomads 1, Villa 0. Technical Old Boys 11, Lyttelton 0Western 8, New Brighton 2. The scores given by the winner were: —4-1, 1-0, 6-0, 7-0.
