MAY BAN BRITISH COAL IMPORTS.
SUBSIDY BLAMED FOR CLOSING RUHR MINES.
THREAT SEEN IN SPEECH BY GERMAN MINISTER.
By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Aus. apd N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May 3, 10.35 a.m.) BERLIN, May 2. Herr Schreider, Minister of Trade, told the Prussian Diet that the English coal subsidy had caused the squandering of coal by selling it at cost price. This had resulted in thirty-eight Ruhr mines being closed, rendering tens of thousands idle. He added: —“German mining must be saved from the results of the English subsidy.” The “ Daily Mail ” interprets this de-
claration to mean that Germany is considering banning British imports in the event of a continuance._o fthe subsidy.
