R.S.A. AND WAR MEMORIAL COMMITTEE

MR GOULD WANTS TIME BEFORE REPLYING. When approached this morning regarding the discussion on the War Memorial Colum-r at the annual meeting of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association last night, Mr George Gould, chairman of the War Memorial Column Committee, said that before making any reply to the statements that had been made at the meeting he would like time to consider the matter. He might make a statement later. A suggestion was made at last night’s meeting that the committee should be asked what they intended to do with regard to the erection of the column. This suggestion was not acted upon, but several of those present expressed the view that the National War Funds Council should claim the money if the column is not erected at once.
