LONDON WOOL SALES OPEN WITH GOOD GENERAL COMPETITION.

The Department, of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated April 2S, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand In London:— The wool sales opened yesterday with good general competition, the chief support for medium and coarse crossbred coming from the Continent. Compared with last closing rates, merino and tine cross-bred sold at from par to & per cent better. Medium and coarse cross-bred were 5 per cent lower. The total available for the series bales, of which 48,000 bales are New Zealand, 63,000 bales Australian and 27,000 bales South American.
