1/- IN THE £ TAX ON CREDIT BETTING.
BRITISH BUDGET TO AIM AT SURPLUS. By Telegraph.—Pres* Afesn.—Copyright “ Sydney Sun ” Cable. LONDON, April 25. The “Daily News” prophesies that the Budget will include a shilling in £l tax on credit betting, that the automobile taxation will be based on increased revenue from load users, that there will be increased taxation on commercial motors, jewels and furs, protective duties on foreign commercial motors, and wrapping papers, and five years' extension of key industry duties. A reduction in the income tax or in general taxation is not anticipated. Some new revenue taxes are probable. Mr Churchill will budget for a surplus, thus meeting the coal emergency obligations from revenue instead of by borrowing.
