GRANT TO BE RECONSIDERED.

SPORTS GROUNDS FOR STATE EMPLOYEES.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Aus. and X.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 26, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, February 25. As a result of pressure from the Conservative organisation the Government has promised to reconsider the proposal to grant £200,000 for civil ser vice sports grounds.

A recent cable message stated: In the House of Commons, following up the announcement that the Government proposed to grant £200,000 towards sports grounds for Civil Servants, several members protested that this was an unnecessary expense, when national economy was so important. Mr Baldwin spiritedly defended the grant, pointing out that every big employer had provided similar facilities for the recreation of his emploj-ees. The State, thus far, had provided no such consideration for its 300,000 employees.
