“TUMBLEWEEDS” AT THE GRAND.
The principal picture at the Grand Theatre has broken fresh ground in several directions. The story is set amongst masses of a new weed that sprang up on a famous strip of land between Kansas and Oklahoma, United States, As millions of its seeds ripen, its roots decay. The first strong autumnal winds tear the plants from their moorings, and send them rolling over the prairies like great balls. For this reason they are called tumbleweeds. Cowboys, who lived amongst them, took, or were given, the same name, and the human tumbleweeds come' on to the screen, to make a fascinating story. “ The White Monkey ” is a picture notable for its star. Miss Barbara La Marr, one of the firmest screen favourites. The Grand Quality Orchestra, under the supervision of Mr Howard Moody, provides an interesting musical programme.
