At the Hospital Boards’ conference remits were carried as follows: "That the Government be asked financially to assist boards to return undesirable immigrants and to stiffen the examination on arrival.” “That the necessity of providing pensions for chronic invalids and dependents be urged on the Government.” ‘‘That the Government provide an institution where deserting husbands could be employed on productive works and thus help to maintain their wives and families.” “That the Government should defray the cost of returning defaulting husbands to the Dominion.”
